Getting Ready

I woke to the sound of the alarm and the smell of pancakes and bacon. Out of habit, I reached for Tony, a little sad when I realized he wasn't there. But I quickly became excited because the next time I saw him, we'd be at our wedding. I yawned as I hit the alarm, 6:02. I was a little sleepy but I could easily get by on five hours of sleep; energy now running through me at the thought of what was to come later.

Leaning over the bed, I pulled my suitcase up, taking out my shampoo, conditioner, toothbrush and then my makeup. I noticed there was something in the inside pocket, unzipping it I pulled out a white package with a silver bow. I grinned. Tony must have snuck this in. I wonder what it is. I gently undid the bow and then tore off the paper revealing Tony's old Angels cap and a framed picture of us at a baseball game. It had been my first game and the Angel's were losing by the ninth inning. Tony had been wearing the cap, but took it off and gave to me when the sun started to beat down on us. The game turned around not long after and Tony was convinced that I was the reason, saying I was lucky. I had thought it was cute, especially after he said he had been lucky ever since we met.

There was a note on the picture: What yours is mine, and all mine is yours. Everything I have means nothing without you. I can't wait to start our lives together and share with you all the days in them.

Love, Tony Wiping back a few tears at his sweet words, I tossed my hair up and put the cap on as someone knocked on the door. Kayla poked her head in. "Your Mom made a breakfast that smells heavenly. Oh, and Jennie will be in here in about an hour to do your hair." She paused. "Is that Tony's hat?"

I nodded and handed her the note as I got in my chair. "That's so sweet, reminds me of when Derek gave me that matching mug to his Dodger's cup."

"Aw, I remember that."

"So, did you get him something?"

"Yeh, I hope he finds it. I put it in the dresser with his tie so he should. I gave him my camera, y'know the really old one that takes black and white photos."

"You did?"

I nodded. "He loves it, and now it's ours."

Kayla walked over, knelt down and shook Auden awake; she was still fast asleep on the pullout sofa. She groaned and we laughed. "C'mon, the bride is up, so the maid of honor has to be."

"As the second maid of honor, I'll let you handle it," Auden said pulling the pillow over her head.
